What makes this program different from other similar programs in the area?

  • The Move and Learn class is not just a gymnastics and dance class. It is thoughtfully designed with a young child’s development in mind. We wanted to create a holistic program to help children be ready to thrive.

Social Skills: This is an opportunity for children to learn how to be part of a peer group, and develop age-appropriate social skills like waiting in a line, sharing, and trading. We will be incorporating group games with themes on impulse control/waiting and working together to accomplish a goal.

Fine/Visual Motor and Self-care: We also provided an opportunity to develop fine/visual motor skills, and self-care skills, through fun structured crafts and activities. Children will learn everything from putting on their socks and washing hands, to snipping with scissors and drawing simple shapes.

Cognitive, Speech Skills, and Concepts: Classes will have themes and teach concepts such as sorting, matching, identifying numbers and letters, labeling feeling words, and telling simple stories.

Sensory Play: Children will also have the opportunity to participate in sensory-based play to stimulate their tactile, visual, and deep touch sensory systems via sensory bins, messy play, and other sensory-based play activities.

Emotional Regulation: We will develop self-regulation and emotional intelligence, by teaching about our bodies and feelings. We will be introducing themes of mindfulness, yoga, and meditation in our welcoming and engaging dance studios.

Strength, Coordination, and Endurance: In the gym, we focus on building core strength, grasping strength, and overall endurance through learning gymnastics skills. Gymnastics naturally helps develop spatial/body awareness, crossing midline, and using both sides of the body together.
