Viking Girl Power

Featuring keynote speaker Melissa “Mel” Green.

Girl Power was envisioned and brought to life five years ago by our founder Charlie, with the realization that as a gymnastics/dance program, we have a responsibility and opportunity to create a lasting and meaningful impact for our young students.

The aim of Girl Power is to promote strength, pride, and self-worth. We focus on how one views themselves, cares for themselves, and interacts with peers. We want to equip children with the critical tools that are needed to navigate their future with confidence, and empower them to be both fearless and formidable in the face of adversity and obstacles.

We recognize there are many different components that are at play relative to our students’ health and well-being in extracurricular activities (mental, physical, emotional, social, etc.). This event will offer numerous program segments led by a variety of presenters to address these topics.

Guests will be divided by age and travel with a small group to participate in five interactive activities which could include team building, nutrition, STEM, self-defense, crafts, dance, and more.

The cost is $63 per participant, $39 per additional family member.

All proceeds support the Women’s Sports Foundation, who empower women and girls to be active while tackling gender inequalities. To learn more, visit the Women’s Sports Foundation.

All participants will receive a Girl Power T-shirt, a souvenir journal, and an irreplaceable self-journey that you will not want to miss!

Registration is now closed.

Open to Adults and Children ages 5 and up.

Once registration fees have been processed, refunds are no longer available.

A little about our keynote speaker…

Some call her Melissa…some call her Mel…but whatever you call her – Melissa “Mel” Green” will answer with a smile and the contagious energy that is her brand.

Born and raised in East Lansing, Michigan – home of the incredible Michigan State Spartans (Go Green!), from the age of 11, Mel knew that she wanted to be a lawyer and her entire pre-law school education was structured to accomplish that career goal.  But before veering into adulthood, Mel spent the majority of her time from the age of 7 training to be an Olympic gymnast. However, a nasty back injury at the age of 13 shattered that dream so she had to watch while her friends competed at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.

After the setback is always the comeback. Being built by two parents with strong work ethics, Mel developed a new dream of getting a college scholarship and competing in Division I NCAA Women’s Gymnastics.  After visits to Alabama and Stanford (which is where she always wanted to go), Mel took her final recruiting trip to Michigan State University and the rest, as they say, is history. She spent four years doing the sport she loves, with people that became “sisters” for life, and getting a great education as a Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy student at MSU’s James Madison College.

Mel opted to go to law school in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan Law School instead of going out to DC to attend George Washington Law School. Upon graduation from law school, Mel moved to Cincinnati, then DC, and finally Chicago in 2016. She took a role as the first and only in-house counsel for a healthcare advisory services and analytics company called The Chartis Group.

Mel eventually left Chartis to take a role as Assistant General Counsel at the American Medical Association where she worked until making a life changing decision to start her own law firm in July 2022.

When not working, you can catch Mel sporting her “catch flights, not feelings” shirt as she boards a plane for another adventure, relaxing at home on a college football Saturday cheering on her beloved Spartans, or singing at whatever volume she feels like at that moment.
